Tasmania Electrical Contractor Application: $5 Million Cover and 10-Year History Questions

What do the 10-year declaration questions cover?

The declaration block concerns the company or business, its owner(s), or its director(s) during the last 10 years. It asks about the following matters:

How is the application started and processed?

The regulator’s process is:

  1. Read the current contractor licence page and the Personal Information Protection Statement.
  2. Start the application through the My Licence portal.
  3. Upload the required insurance evidence, entity registration evidence if applicable, and the nominated manager’s electrical practitioner licence details for a new application.
  4. Answer the licence declaration questions and provide supporting documents for any yes answer.
  5. Have a credit card ready to pay the licence fee online or at any Service Tasmania shop.

Once all required information is received, Consumer Affairs Tasmania says applications will be processed within 21 days.

Can an interstate licence be automatically recognised?

A holder of an electrical contractors licence in another State or Territory may be eligible to have that licence automatically recognised in Tasmania. This eligibility applies only to contractor licences held by individuals, not entities.
